The Guishan Canal diverts water from the Laonong River to provide irrigation water for the Guishan Canal Irrigation Group. In the past, sedimentation constantly occurred along the earthen dike of the leading canal, increasing maintenance costs. To ensure sustainable agricultural production and intake operations, a settling basin and sediment discharge gate were installed, effectively reducing sedimentation and lowering the cost of clearing out the silt.
